Rajkot is more suited to spiritual preferences.  the city and its surrounds are home to several ashrams that provide yoga instruction and quiet retreats amid wooded hills and picturesque lakes. Foreign tourists, especially those in a rush, are unaware of these practises.
Rajkot is most known for being the location of Mahatma Gandhi's early schooling. Traditional sweets and dandiya/garba raas dances are also well-known in the city. A member of the Jadeja clan, whose ancestors dominated the city until 1947, founded the city in 1620.

Rajkot is located midway between Porbandar and Ahmedabad on the Kathiawar Peninsula. It's worth stopping for one or two days.
